According to the global Adventure Travel Trade Association - "Adventure travel" may be any vacation including 2 of the following components: a physical activity, a cultural exchange, and involving or interacting with nature.
Some examples of adventure travel include: mountaineering, trekking, rafting, rock climbing, bungee jumping, helicopter skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, and more.
There are very few trips which can be taken that are better than outdoor adventure trips. There are tons of choices - you just pick what looks best to you. Adventure travel does not necessarily mean you have to travel overseas or be extremely expensive. Take some time to do research, and you're likely to find adventure travel opportunities in your own state. Your local travel bureau is likely to have some good ideas for you.
