The cafe has been serving its famous "Tiger" - a meat pie with mashed peas and gravy float along with other Aussie tucker since the late 1930's. Sydneysider Harry (Tiger) Edwards opened his first caravan cafe on the site near the front gates of the Garden Island naval dockyard before being forced to close while he went to war in the Middle East with the Australian Imperial Force.
